About the position / Who are we looking for
This position works under limited supervision and is primarily responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing production equipment, machinery, and building facilities ensuring optimum operation in a timely manner.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Maintains the condition of designated production and facility equipment as per state regulations. Services, repairs, calibrates, regulates, fine-tunes, or tests machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles. Ensures optimum operation of all production equipment and machinery by trouble shooting, diagnosing and repairing any problems in a timely manner. Assists in the implementation of company maintenance policies and training, maintains all necessary licenses and certifications, and assists in the training of lower level mechanics. Coordinate with production the repair or the preventative maintenance of production, and process equipment to minimize downtime. Maintains, diagnoses and repairs all building systems and their components. Systems to include lighting, HVAC, production waste water system, steam, compressed air, hot and cold water systems, electrical, foam system, and all similar systems located throughout the facility. Ensures the continuous operation of mechanical equipment by performing scheduled Predictive Maintenance. Performs all required work for installation and removal of equipment. Ensures the security of the building, and monitor the security cards access system. Completes all required computer logs and paperwork on time. Validates metrology equipment throughout the production facilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic knowledge of HVAC operations and boiler plant fundamentals including troubleshooting. Capable of metal fabrication with styles to include: soldering, brazing, stick welding. Possesses the knowledge to recommend design and installation alterations to and build new machinery, equipment or parts to improve present production processes. Possesses technical knowledge including PLC expertise to solve problems and make long term improvement to equipment and processes. Has good overall electrical and controls experience such as knowledge of wiring, PLC’s, relays, motors, sensors, etc. Possesses a working knowledge of National Electrical Code as it pertains to industrial facilities. Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings used in the construction of the company’s products. Knowledge of motor and pump operations and maintenance, fluid dynamics, and pneumatics. Must be a member of the First Aid Team/Safety Committee and a Fire Protection Monitor. Must have a valid drivers license, forklift license and Boiler Operators License is desirable. These characteristics are normally acquired through an AA degree in a technical major and five years of experience managing particular programs or in a particular environment.
Working environment may be in a production unit and includes frequent exposures to wet, humid, dusty, or loud conditions, moving machine parts, fumes or airborne particles and caustic chemicals. May come in contact with extremely cold conditions (-55°C). A company issued uniform is required to be worn along with personal protective equipment at all times. This can include coveralls, dust mask, hearing protection, hair/beard net, safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; scoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and use foot/feet to operate machines. Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. (assisted). This includes repetitive bending and lifting of items to stack or dump. Must be able to work under hot or extreme cold, wet, and sometimes-dusty, and loud conditions, dust mask, coveralls and, or hearing protection may be required. Strict compliance to “air lock” rules to avoid interdepartmental contamination.
