Up to 10 posts are required to provide an increase in staffing throughout Work, Study, Premium and UKVI International. This number may increase due to business needs.

These roles are a critical part of UKVI based in Sheffield and will be based within the following departments:

  • Work, Study & Premium who deal with the consideration of cases from within the UK, under the Points Based system from customers who wish to work or study in the UK and remain her on a temporary (Leave to Remain) or permanent (Indefinite Leave to Remain) basis. It also deals with customers applying to remain in some of the non-points based system routes.
  • UKVI International who are responsible for running the UK’s visa service, manage around 3 million applications a year from overseas nationals who wish to come to the UK to visit, study or work both on a temporary or permanent basis.

Candidates are expected to be both flexible and adaptable as there may be a requirement to work across both departments, depending on business need.

Duties include:

.Using guidance and policy to consider and make decisions on customer requests;

.Being responsible for updating Home Office databases on receipt of applications/documentation;

.Being responsibility for effective personal delivery;

.Delivering against timeliness and quality targets, providing excellent customer service;

.Developing and maintaining good working relationships to deliver what is required;

.Making well-judged decisions;

.Supporting colleagues to deliver to a high standard;

.Being flexible and receptive to implementing change.

UKVI International additional duties

When working in UKVI International, as well as decision-making, candidates may also be required to undertake admin-based Entry Clearance Assistant roles. Tasks could include:

  • Data entry;
  • Pre assessment/enrichment activity;
  • Visa printing;
  • Interviewing applicants and sponsors via telephone/video link;
  • Dispatching;
  • Workflow assistance;
  • Correspondence.
